1996 Moraga Red
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes

The vintage of 1996 was a repeat performance of the near-perfect 1994 growing season.  The warm dry spring provided ideal conditions for evenly set fruit.  A temperate and sunny summer was followed by a burst of heat that concentrated flavors at harvest.  The outcome of this serendipitous weather pattern was a moderate crop of perfectly ripened, very flavorful grapes.

Needles to say, we are excited about 1996 Moraga. This wine exudes rich cassis spice, cigar box, and berry notes that we’ve come to recognize as signature Moraga. What sets this wine apart is an exceptional concentration an intensity seen only in special vintages where all the elements of perfection in the vineyard converge.

Generously textured and beautifully structured, 1996 Moraga is that rare blend of elegance wrapped around a powerful core.  This wine delivers hedonistic pleasures for immediate enjoyment, but its unabashed youthfulness promises an evolution that will please for years to come.  We are proud of this wine and hope that you will find delight in what 1996 Moraga offers.
