2000 Moraga White
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes

Nature once again smiled down on Moraga during the vintage of 2000.  A mild temperate summer faded seamlessly into a gentle fall that never forced our hand, but allowed the luxury of two separate pickings when the Sauvignon Blanc grapes were at the pinnacle of ripeness on September 7thand 14th.  Upon picking, the grapes were loaded into a small basket press located in the vineyard and gently pressed to express the juice.

The aroma of this wine nearly leaps out of the glass.  A study in intensity and complexity layers of gooseberry, grapefruit peel, and anise combine to produce a compelling fragrance profile.  Faint notes of tropical fruits that are nuances on the nose come alive in the form of fresh melon, nectarine, and pineapple in the mouth. The 2000 Moraga White is one of those very rare white wines which displays a mouth-filling richness combined with an unexpected extraordinary structure.

The entire team at Moraga is extremely proud of this wine and we hope that you will find it expressive and delicious.  It represents not only a special place, but the skill and passion of all the people who took it from vine to bottle. It is a tangible expression of the beauty of nature touched by the hand of man.
